What we offer

SECASA (The South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence) offers a range of training sessions for those working in social, health, welfare and education fields.

Responding to Sexual Assault

This introductory professional training workshop is for participants wanting to learn how to support someone who discloses sexual assault. It covers:

  • Social context of sexual assault
  • Sexual rights, consent and sexual violence
  • Prevalence of sexual violence
  • Community beliefs and misconceptions
  • Responding to disclosures
  • Role and response of SOCIT
  • Key contacts and referral pathways

Intimate Partner Sexual Violence

Intimate partner sexual violence is difficult to recognise and name, however has a significant impact on the wellbeing and quality of life of women who experience it. This workshop will cover:

  • Definition of Intimate partner sexual violence
  • History of Intimate partner sexual violence in Australia
  • Scale and impact of the problem
  • Current contributing factors
  • Police Intervention
  • Service system response required

Cancellations

  • We request cancellations of registrations be made in writing to secasa@monashhealth.org
  • Fees paid will be refunded as follows:
    • Cancellation before five working days prior to training- Full refund
    • Cancellation within five working days prior to training- Partial refund, less $30 late cancellation fee
  • Registrations are transferable to a colleague for training sessions. Notification is required prior to training session via email to secasa@monashhealth.org
  • Sessions may be cancelled and your registration fee refunded if registration numbers do not meet minimum requirements to proceed.
