Inner Middle Crisis Advocacy Response Service
Through IMCARS (Inner Middle Crisis Advocacy Response Service), SECASA provides family violence services 24/7 to victims of family violence in the Inner Middle region. This covers the local government areas of Port Phillip, Bayside, Glen Eira, Stonnington and Kingston and within the vicinity of Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, and Oakleigh.
IMCARS is a partnership between SECASA, the Salvation Army Domestic Violence Outreach Service and Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre (formerly Women’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service).
During business hours the service is provided by IMCARS at the Salvation Army Domestic Violence Outreach Service. This service can also be provided at Police Stations and motels. SECASA may provide services to clients who call our Crisis Line or who are referred via Monash Medical Centre Emergency Department (MMC ED).
After hours SECASA provides the service, usually at the Crisis Care Unit, Monash Medical Centre, Clayton. Workers will attend at Police Stations or other Emergency Departments if it is difficult to transport the client to Clayton.
The service includes:
- Arranging counselling through SECASA for clients who live within our region, or referring them to local providers if they live outside our region.
- Providing women with care packs and clothing.
If a client has nowhere to go, and Safe Steps is going to pick them up the next working day, SECASA will arrange accommodation at a hotel/motel.
