New Director of SECASA

Katherine Dowson

We would like to introduce you to the new Director of SECASA Katherine Dowson.

Katherine was the leader of Eastern Health's response to family violence. She gained sector wide recognition in 2017 when Eastern Health was shortlisted in the Public Health Care Awards for leadership in Family Violence strategy and implementation.

A Social Worker by profession with a focus on women and children's health, Katherine is an experienced allied health leader and manager and has held clinical, operational and strategic leadership roles at Eastern Health and MS Australia. Her earlier career as a Social Worker includes Monash (Southern) Health, Eastern Health and the Department of Human Services. Katherine also holds a Master of Public Health with a major in Women's Health and Health Management. Katherine’s appointment to the Board of Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC), under the patronage of the Honourable Jennifer Coate, further recognises her passionate advocacy and leadership within the health system for family violence reform, support for vulnerable children and for survivors of sexual abuse /assault.

Known as a dynamic and compassionate leader, Katherine has made a significant contribution to the Victorian Public Health sector by increasing their capability to care for our most vulnerable individuals. She will continue this important work in partnership and collaboration as Director of SECASA.
