Home: Survivors: Sexual Harrassment: Harrassment issues for men
This article is written for men and assumes a male offender, however SECASA acknowledges that both men and women can be survivors of sexual abuse and that offenders can be male and female.
Sexual harassment is about power, not about relationships. It can harm your sense of masculinity, sexuality and self-worth.
You are likely to feel angry and ashamed, but don't bottle up your feelings.
Four tips to protect yourself from sexual harassment:
- Personal Support - talk to someone you trust.
- Safety - get help so it won't happen again.
- Find out your rights! Contact the Equal Opportunity Commission.
- Professional Support - CASAs provide free counselling and advocacy services for victims of sexual harassment with a 24-hour emergency service.
No-one ever deserves or wants to be sexually harassed!
