Secret Untold

Home: Survivors: The Cafe: Secret Untold

by Jenna Kandyce Linch

Far from home she finds herself tonight
Having managed to barely escape another violent fight.

Now she's in an unfamiliar place
Ready for a new life to face.

She knows she can't go back home
It's better to be on the roam.

Back there her heart cannot be found
For it turned into a war zone where she fought to stand her ground.

The words he said to her she can still hear
Even though she left, it's as if his presence is near.

By the man she loved she was betrayed
He became a stranger of whom she grew afraid.

Daily with makeup the black eyes she had to conceal
The truth about the bruises to no one would she reveal.

With terror her life he reigned
Pleasure from the pain he put her through he gained.

Every aspect of her life he controlled
Threatening to hurt her even more if anyone she told.

She felt trapped as if in a prison cell
Fearing what he would do, she never did tell.

Her friends all thought they were in love
They told her she was lucky to be with an angel from above.

Little did they know about the tears he made her cry
Or how he broke her down till she started to emotionally die.

He had everyone fooled on the outside
With his well known reputation, his other side he could hide.

Once he got home, a different person he became
When things went wrong, it was her he would blame.

Walking on eggshells, she never knew when he'd attack
Around him, she constantly had to watch her back.

Too any times she gave him a chance when his lies she believed
Yet each time worse beatings she received.

By staying, her life she would lose
For her freedom, leaving was the risk she decided to choose.

Her life she didn't want to live begging for
In her heart she knew she deserved something more.

Without a word, out of the house she crept
This promise of forever was better left unkept.

Never looking back she left everything behind
The only prayer she breathed was that her he would never find.

Into the night she continued to drive
Thankful she was able to make it out alive.

To that way of life she will never return
Her safety is her main concern.

Now is her time to get a new start
With faith and hope she'll rebuild the pieces of her life that were torn apart.

Taking back control of her life, onto a better future she grabs hold
Finally ready to speak out and release her secret that's gone untold.
