Max Clarke, a SECASA counsellor, talks about how and why we start our journey of recovery. Max gives reassurance that if you go to see a counsellor it does not mean having to tell them all the nitty gritty details of what happened. Dealing with, and understanding, the effects of what happened and achieving healing is what it means to ‘move on’. Many men who have been sexually abused also find it difficult to make or maintain relationships; Max shows that as healing is achieved anything is possible.
