AWARE is a program of SECASA that provides treatment for children and youth aged four to 18 with problematic sexual and sexually abusive behaviours.
- Children under age 10 are seen in the general counselling service.
- Mainstream youth 10 to 18 years are provided with assessment and therapeutic services. This service was formerly the SOBI program.
- Assessments primarily address risk and needs issues.
- The program offers individual, group and family therapy.
- Youth with intellectual disability and borderline intellect issues are provided with a specific program response. Formerly the SAID program, it is the only ID/Borderline youth specific treatment program in the state. Secondary consultation is provided to DHS, Child Protection, and all community agencies.
- Comprehensive training programs are offered regarding sexually abusive/problematic behaviours vs normal sexual development (what's normal/what's not).
- Professional links with the Victorian Offender Treatment Association (VOTA), as well as all state-wide treatment providers.
