Services for children and youth with problematic/abusive sexual behaviours

Home: About SECASA: SECASA services: AWARE

AWARE is a program of SECASA that provides treatment for children and youth aged four to 18 with problematic sexual and sexually abusive behaviours.

  • Children under age 10 are seen in the general counselling service.
  • Mainstream youth 10 to 18 years are provided with assessment and therapeutic services. This service was formerly the SOBI program.
  • Assessments primarily address risk and needs issues.
  • The program offers individual, group and family therapy.
  • Youth with intellectual disability and borderline intellect issues are provided with a specific program response. Formerly the SAID program, it is the only ID/Borderline youth specific treatment program in the state. Secondary consultation is provided to DHS, Child Protection, and all community agencies.
  • Comprehensive training programs are offered regarding sexually abusive/problematic behaviours vs normal sexual development (what's normal/what's not).
  • Professional links with the Victorian Offender Treatment Association (VOTA), as well as all state-wide treatment providers.
