Children can feel very scared after they have been sexually assaulted. They often feel scared at night and may have bad dreams. There are lots of things you, and the grown ups who look after you, can do to help you feel less scared. You can tell someone exactly what frightens you and work out what would help you feel safer.
You can imagine a really safe place with maybe a big lion who loves you and will fight the scary things. You can draw your scary dreams and then burn them (with an adult to help) or put them in a jar so it can't escape. Some children find that a torch or a whistle by their bed helps or a special toy that you can take with you everywhere in your pocket. Scary things always get more scary when they stay in your head. If you let them out of your head they get smaller.
