Outgrowing the Pain, by Eliana Gil

This is a wonderful introductory book for an abuse survivor and her partner, with a brief mention of the needs of the partner.

The Courage to Heal, by Ellen Bass and Laura Davis

Don't be overwhelmed by the size of this book. It is easy to read and has valuable information in it, including a chapter entitled "For Partners." In that chapter is also a useful section devoted to "the benefits" of being the partner of an abuse survivor.

Incest and Sexuality, by Wendy Maltz and Beverly Holman

This excellent book has a chapter on "Survivors and Partners Working Together," which includes two subheadings outlining specifically "What Partners Need from Survivors" and "What Survivors Need from Partners."

Soul Survivors, by J. Patrick Gannon

This book has a long chapter entitled "Soul Mates: For Friends, Lovers and Spouses" that tells of several partners' experiences. It also has a section listing "What Survivors Need from You" and "What Survivors Don't Need."
